A teacher named Haji Shahajahan has been accused of throwing a four-year-old child into a pond while playing with sand kept on the road in Burichong, Comilla. The incident took place at the house of Manjur Ali Sarda in Burichong Purba Para, Sadar Union, Burichong Upazila on Thursday (January 16) afternoon. Later, criticism started when a video went viral on social media Facebook.

The child’s mother filed a case against the teacher in this incident on Friday (January 17) morning, said Burichong Police Station OC Azizul Haque.

In the video, the child’s mother is seen telling the person, “Don’t you have any humanity? You threw my child into the water. How could you, a social person, do such a thing? You will throw my child into the pond like this just because he threw a little sand.” Is this a reasonable thing you did?

The man replied, “I have been telling everyone for 20 days now, but no one has listened to me. Your child came here to grab sand. Why will your child come here?”

Shamshun Nahar Tania, the mother of the tortured child, said, “Master Shahjahan tried to kill my child. I want justice from the administration.”

According to the case file, on Thursday afternoon, Nazir Ahmed’s two daughters, Miftahul Mawa and Galiba Sultana (10), were playing with sand kept on the road in front of Shahjahan’s house. At that time, Shahjahan beat up four-year-old Mawa on the charge of wasting sand and threw her into a nearby pond. When his elder sister Galiba saw this incident, Shahjahan also beat her. When the locals came forward to their screams, Shahjahan left. Then the neighbors rescued the two injured children and first took them to the Burichang Upazila Health Complex. Seeing the deterioration of Mawa’s condition there, the doctor advised transferring them to Comilla Medical College Hospital. The child is currently undergoing treatment there.

In this regard, Burichang Police Station OC Azizul Haque said, “On Friday (January 17) morning, the child’s mother filed a child abuse case with Burichang Police Station. We are trying our best to catch the accused.”
