The world’s longest driverless train, the ‘Riyadh Metro’, has been launched in Saudi Arabia. The train was launched at 6 am local time on Sunday (January 5), according to the country’s Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).
The Royal Commission’s statement said, ‘The metro has started operating in full swing on the Orange Line and other lines since January 5.’
The Riyadh Metro runs from 6 am to midnight every day. Passengers can board the train by coming to the station or buying tickets online.
It is known that the train is basically a metrorail and has been designed to operate in the capital Riyadh and its surrounding areas. There are 6 lines to bring the entire region under one network – Blue Line, Yellow Line, Purple Line, Red Line, Green Line and Orange Line. Among these lines, Riyadh Metro started trial operation of trains on the Blue, Yellow and Purple lines, and later on December 15, trial operation of the Red and Green lines also started.
Riyadh Metro is the longest driverless train in the world and its network is the largest in the entire Middle East. The total length of the train network is 176 kilometers and there are a total of 85 stations on this route. This train covers all the stations.
