Noakhali residents have once again held a human chain demanding division under the name of Noakhali, not with Comilla, a fraction of Tripura.

The lives of one crore people of greater Noakhali are being demanded. The Noakhali residents united for the implementation of Noakhali division have sought the intervention of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, in the implementation of Noakhali division.
The human chain program was held on the road in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office for an hour from 10:30 am on Sunday (December 22).
Later, people from all walks of life of Noakhali took out a protest march on the main road of the district town of Maijdi with various slogans, ‘We want Noakhali division, not Comilla’, ‘If we give division with Comilla, we will fight on the streets’.

At that time, various political parties, voluntary organizations, anti-discrimination student movement, student rights council, social voluntary organizations, Noakhali Government College, Chaumuhani Government Saleh Ahmed College and Government Women’s College of Noakhali participated in human chains and processions demanding the administrative division of Noakhali. The speakers in the human chain said that our Noakhali is a 200-year-old district full of history, tradition and economic development. This traditional district controls 35 percent of the national economy of Bangladesh. In addition, the wheels of the national economy are running on the remittances of the expatriates of this district, which is inhabited by more than 7 lakh expatriates. Considering all aspects, Noakhali, a district of scholars and scholars including the best son of the nation, Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin, is a worthy claimant to the 9th administrative division. Therefore, the 10 million people of Greater Noakhali want the Chief Advisor to declare and implement the entire district of Noakhali, 160 kilometers away from Dhaka, not Comilla, which is only 80 kilometers away.

The speakers also said that if a division is declared by merging Noakhali with Comilla without the permission of the people of Noakhali or without a public hearing, the people of Noakhali will never accept it. If necessary, we will stay with Chittagong, but we will not go to division with Comilla. And if any conspiracy is made regarding the division of Noakhali, the young generation of Noakhali will resort to the court if necessary.

Nevertheless, they warned that they will not return home without the declaration of division for Noakhali.
