The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has said that the number of income tax returns filed online has crossed 1 million.

The agency said this in a press release on Monday (December 30).
Congratulating all taxpayers who have already successfully filed their income tax returns online, the press release said that individual taxpayers can easily and quickly file their income tax returns for the 2024-2025 tax year online using the National Board of Revenue’s website www.etaxnbr.gov.bd and download and print copies of the submitted returns, receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates.
At the same time, taxpayers are getting tax payment facilities and tax reconciliation facilities through internet banking, card payments (debit/credit cards) and mobile banking. Round-the-clock support is being provided through the call center and email in this regard. The number of taxpayers filing income tax returns online has crossed 1 million due to their voluntary participation. In addition, the number of taxpayers registering for online return filing has crossed 1.6 million.
The press release further states that the e-return registration process has been made more taxpayer-friendly. To successfully register for e-return, the taxpayer needs a biometric SIM registered with his/her national identity card. You can easily check whether the mobile number used by the taxpayer is biometrically registered with his/her national identity card or not by dialing *16001#.
In addition, as part of the simplification of the online return filing process, the National Board of Revenue has taken special measures for those taxpayers who, despite having a national identity card, could not get a biometric mobile SIM due to lack of fingerprints and therefore are unable to register in the e-return system.
Incidentally, the online return filing system was opened for taxpayers from September 9. In addition, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has urged all taxpayers to file their returns online easily and seamlessly by January 31.
