Remittances of over 22,000 crore taka arrived in 18 days

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent remittances of 1.86 billion dollars to the country through banking channels in the first 18 days of this June. In Bangladeshi currency (based on 122 taka per dollar), which amounts to about 22,700 crore taka. During this period, an average of 103.3 million dollars in remittances arrived daily.

This information was revealed from the updated report published by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (June 22).

A total of 29.36 billion dollars in remittances arrived from July of the 2024-25 fiscal year to 18th of this month. Which is 27.3 percent more than the same period of the previous fiscal year. Remittances arrived during the same period of the 2023-24 fiscal year were 23.06 billion dollars.

There was a positive trend in expatriate income flow before this. Remittances arrived in May last year at 2.97 billion dollars, which is the second highest in history. Even before that, the highest remittances arrived in March last year at 3.29 billion dollars.

In the first month of the current fiscal year, July, remittances reached $1.91377 million. Then, remittances of $2.22112 million were received in August, $2.4414 million in September, $2.395 billion in October, $2.22 billion in November, $2.64 billion in December, $2.19 billion in January, $2.53 billion in February, $3.29 billion in March, $2.75 billion in April, and $2.97 billion in May.
