The government has taken various initiatives to control the rice market, including increasing imports and selling at subsidized prices. Still, the price of rice cannot be brought under control. The price of the country’s main food grain has been increasing for a month. It has increased by up to Tk 10 per kg.
The lower to middle class is also in trouble in this precarious situation in the rice market. They said that even though it is the full season of Aman, the instability in the rice market is not decreasing. This is increasing pressure on the shoulders of consumers.

Buyers said that traders are looting the market by forming syndicates. And consumers are losing money. Market control cannot be just talked about verbally, the government must implement it at the field level as well.

Retail traders said that the increase in rice prices at the mill level also affects the retail level. Mill owners increase the price of rice. And the government conducts a campaign in the retail market. It is not possible to reduce prices in this way.

Meanwhile, if the price of one daily commodity decreases, the price of several others increases. However, there is relief in the vegetable market. Almost all types of vegetables are available for 30 to 40 taka.

The prices of potatoes and onions have also decreased by 5 to 10 taka per kg. Golden chicken, which was 360 taka last week, is available for 330 taka and broiler for 190 to 200 taka per kg. The prices of all types of fish and mutton have also increased.

Buyers and sellers are asking the government to be stricter in controlling the market. They say that regular market monitoring should be done to control the market of daily necessities. If the campaign is carried out, the violence of unscrupulous people will decrease.
