In response to the attack on the US nuclear facility, Iran launched a modern missile attack on Israel. The attack caused extensive damage to 10 areas, including Tel Aviv.
The BBC reported on Sunday (June 22), citing Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, that Iran used the ‘Khyber’ missile for the first time in the recent attack on Israel.
The Khyber missile is one of the latest medium-range ballistic missiles in Iran’s missile arsenal. Officially known as the Khorramshahr-4. It is the fourth generation of the domestically produced Khorramshahr missile series.
The 2,000-kilometer-range Khyber missile is capable of carrying a 1,500-kilogram warhead, making it one of the heaviest warheads among Iran’s medium-range missiles. This liquid-fueled missile can be controlled in flight.
In addition, this missile also has the ability to adjust the trajectory of the warhead outside the atmosphere. It is capable of hitting targets with much greater accuracy than previous missiles built in Iran.
Technically, the maximum speed of the Khyber outside the atmosphere is approximately Mach 16. Which is 16 times the speed of sound and approximately Mach 8 inside it. Technically, this missile is so powerful that it is quite difficult to intercept this missile with conventional air defense systems.
It is worth noting that on June 13, Israel suddenly launched an attack on Iran during the day and night. In this operation called ‘Operation Rising Lion’, the Zionist forces attacked various military installations, nuclear research centers and residential buildings in Iran, including the capital Tehran.
The attack killed more than 400 people, including the head of Iran’s armed forces, Mohammad Bagheri, the commander of the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters and a senior Revolutionary Guards officer, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, and ten nuclear scientists.
In retaliation for the Israeli attack, Iran launched an operation called ‘Operation True Promise-3’ on Friday night. Tehran’s ballistic missiles have penetrated Israel’s advanced air defense system and hit important targets. Although the casualties are low, Israel is suffering heavy losses. In the midst of this ongoing conflict, the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities – Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan – during the night of June 21. There are fears that this war will spread.
