The Palestinian authorities have suspended the broadcasts of Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera in the occupied West Bank. The decision to stop broadcasting was made on charges of broadcasting provocative content. In the meantime, 11 more Palestinians were killed in the valley in a single day in Israeli attacks. Meanwhile, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is resigning from parliament.
Residents of Palestinian refugee camps are facing extreme disasters due to rain and flooding in the harsh winter. At the same time, the humanitarian crisis has reached its peak due to the shortage of food and medicine. The tents in their shelters have been torn apart by stormy winds. The residents’ belongings are floating in the water. Not only that, a hospital in Khan Yunis is submerged in floodwaters. Patients and doctors are struggling.
A doctor in the refugee camp said, “We are in trouble with the patients in the floodwaters. Medical equipment is being destroyed by drowning.’
Another said, ‘I came to treat my son. We are not getting services in such a terrible condition of the hospital.’
Even in such a situation, the Israeli military’s attacks have not stopped. The death toll in Palestine has exceeded 45,500. Among the dead are about 11,000 children. Of these, more than 200 are newborns. According to the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics, about 100,000 Palestinians have left Gaza since the start of the war and more than 55,000 people are dead or missing. The population in Palestine has decreased by 6 percent in the last 15 months.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian authorities have temporarily suspended Al Jazeera’s broadcast in the occupied West Bank on charges of incitement and broadcasting conflictual content. The media outlet did not immediately comment on the matter. However, the Director General of the Palestine National Initiative says that this is a wrong decision by the Palestinians. Earlier, the Fatah group also took the initiative to stop Al Jazeera’s broadcasts, accusing it of dividing the Palestinian territories.
Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, a close ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has resigned from parliament. Netanyahu dismissed Gallant due to disagreements a few months after the Gaza war. However, Gallant did not clarify the reason for his resignation.
Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said, “I am solely responsible for everything I did during my tenure as Defense Minister. I have made my role and decisions clear on everything that happened from the beginning of the war to the end. I am responsible for all wrong decisions.”
Israel has again warned the Palestinian independence movement Hamas. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has warned that they will face a more serious conflict if the hostages are not released.
