Sarjis Alam, General Secretary of the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation and one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, commented that if the Chief Advisor Dr. Mohammad Yunus betrays the beliefs of the people’s uprising, he will not be spared either. He made this statement as the chief guest at the “Bangladesh with the Martyr Families” event organized by the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation at the Rajshahi District Shilpakala Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Sarjis Alam said, “We are not collaborators. We are not power-hungry. If Professor Dr. Yunus betrays the beliefs of the July people’s uprising, we will not spare him either.”

Regarding the issue of exhuming the bodies of those killed in the movement, Coordinator Sarjis Alam raised a question, “Instead of punishing the police officers who fired during the July uprising, they are being transferred and given new postings. Leaders of various political parties and senior officials of the administration are involved in the case business. If there is no need to exhume the body for the trial of Sheikh Mujib’s murder, why should the bodies of the martyrs of July and August be exhumed?”

Regarding India, Sarjis Alam said, “The relationship between India and Bangladesh will be determined through their actions. If they want to maintain a good relationship, India must not shelter the murderer Sheikh Hasina and must send her back. The trial of the murderer Hasina will take place on the soil of Bengal.”

The July Martyrs Memorial Foundation provided financial assistance to 46 families among the 63 martyr families in Rajshahi Division. Each martyr family was given a check of five lakh taka.

The event was attended by central leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, senior officials from the Rajshahi administration, and members of the 46 martyr families.
