The India-China-Russia-led BRICS alliance has taken a stand in favor of Iran. The alliance has also issued a statement strongly condemning the military attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran. Al Jazeera reports.

BRICS, an alliance of emerging economies including Brazil, China, India, South Africa, and Russia, has expressed deep concern over the recent attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran, describing them as a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

In a statement issued after the ceasefire between Iran and Israel came into effect on Tuesday (June 24), the BRICS criticized the attack on Iran’s “peaceful nuclear facilities.” According to them, the attack was carried out in violation of international law and the rules of the UN Atomic Energy Agency.

The alliance called on the warring parties to return to diplomacy, saying there was “no alternative to dialogue to de-escalate the situation and resolve their differences peacefully.”

Iran and the United Arab Emirates are also BRICS members. According to the alliance, there is a need to “break the cycle of violence and restore peace” through dialogue.
