A young man named Jitendra set himself on fire in front of the Parliament of India. He was seriously burned in the incident on Wednesday (December 25) afternoon.
According to Indian media reports, the young man named Jitendra is a resident of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. He was running towards Parliament with his body on fire.
Later, the fire was extinguished and he was taken to the hospital. A half-burnt two-page note was found from the scene.
According to the report, a part of the half-burnt note written by 26-year-old Jitendra has something written against the police. It especially talks about deprivation and insults towards Dalits.
The local fire brigade said that after receiving the news, the guards guarding the Parliament rushed to rescue the man. The Railway Police, local police and some ordinary citizens together put out the fire on his body. Later, he was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
New Delhi DCP Devesh Mahala said, “We have come to know during the investigation that a case was registered against him in Baghpat in 2021. He was worried about that case.”
